As always, the threats from invasive species are growing, especially with this year's mild winter, early spring and warmer summer. The Chinese Mystery Snail Harvest will happen this fall to help eradicate our lake of this creature. We, at Square Pond, are very thankful to have so many volunteers in place that are keeping well trained eyes out for invasive plants. Click here for the story of a great interception by the CBI inspector on Mousam Lake! CBI's are so important to keeping our lakes healthy. Could you imagine your lake with invasive plants in it....or are you only seeing how it is today-invasive plant free? Seriously think about this-....the plants are in the area. In case you question your membership dues.....it is helping to expand the CBI hours at our boat launch! JOIN THE SPIA TODAY!! Something to look forward to! There is a possibility of having a children's program in place for next year. SPIA is creating a "Growing Lake Stewards" program to teach our children about lake quality, plants-good & bad, and general knowledge of how to maintain and contribute to our/their lake! **More info to come.... |
